Erika Thamann
Welcome to Multisensory Minds! My name is Erika and I am thrilled to learn more about you and your child.
I graduated from The University of Kentucky and completed my student teaching in Auckland, New Zealand. I moved to Miami, Florida after graduation to teach second grade for children who benefit from small group settings and those who have learning differences. I believe children learn best through playful, multisensory lessons. When all senses are engaged, children can obtain and recall information with more meaningful recognition.
While teaching in the classroom setting for 8 years, I was able to work closely with amazing children, supportive families, incredible colleagues, and skilled therapists. I incorporate many of these best practices while introducing, reteaching, or reviewing a concept.
When creating an individualized lesson, I incorporate science-based learning programs (Orton Gillingham and Lindamood-Bell) along with hands-on engaging activities. If you overhear singing, dancing, or laughing that means the MAGIC is happening. Children begin to improve academics and confidence when they are enjoying and connecting to the materials being presented.
I believe that collaboration is the key to success. Throughout the week, I brainstorm and connect with both parents and classroom teachers. I will work closely with you to provide monthly goals, areas of growth, and transparent feedback.
